Increase in Pickpocketing and Distraction Thefts – Hampstead Town Update

Dear Hampstead Town Residents,

We have recently seen a rise in reports of pickpocketing and distraction thefts in the Hampstead Town area, particularly around busy shops, cafés and transport hubs. In response, officers will continue to carry out high‑visibility patrols in identified hotspot locations. We are also engaging with local businesses to provide crime‑prevention guidance and encourage prompt reporting.

A number of these offences involve offenders working in pairs or groups, using distraction techniques to remove items such as phones, purses and bags. We continue to review CCTV, gather intelligence and link reports to help identify those responsible.
